Ian Buckle
Biography
Versatile British pianist Ian Buckle is known on recordings as an accompanist but also has a varied career as a soloist and chamber musician. In 1996, Buckle made his London debut with a recital at Wigmore Hall. Buckle is a familiar figure on British orchestral programs, with ongoing relationships as a soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the John Wilson Orchestra. In 2011, he made his formal recording debut, backing clarinetist Mark Simpson on the duo recital Prism. In 2016, Buckle co-founded the Pixels Ensemble and remained its artistic director as of the mid-2020s. In 2015, he backed violinist Andrew Long on the album Edward German: Souvenir. He has often worked with violinist Sophie Rosa; he accompanied her on several albums, including Closing Statements in 2023.
