Ernst Reijseger
Biography
Playing cello at the age of eight and by the time he was in his late-teens, Ernst Reijseger was deeply involved in the European improvised music scene. Among artists with whom he worked from the early-70s onwards for the next three decades are Han Bennink, Don Byron, Curtis Clark’s quartet, Trilok Gurtu, Steve Lacy, Andy Sheppard and John Tchicai. He has played with groups such as the Arcado String Trio, alongside Mark Dresser and violinist Mark Feldman, and Derek Bailey’s Company. On 1995’s Green Dolphy Suite, for Enja Records, he played in a double trio formed by teaming the Arcado trio with the Trio De Clarinettes. In the late-90s, Reijseger became a regular member of Misha Mengelberg’s ICP orchestra, and formed the influential Clusone Trio with Michael Moore and Bennink.
