Massimo Lombardi

Biography

Tenor Massimo Lombardi is the founder of the vocal-instrumental group I Disinvolti, which seeks out unedited 17th century Italian music. He also has a substantial solo career, much of it in Baroque choral music. In 2015, Lombardi made his recording debut on the album Rossini: Péchés de viellesse, Vol. 7. Lombardi has been active in performance with a variety of leading early music ensembles both in Italy and beyond, including Vox Luminis and Concerto Italiano. In 2018, Lombardi founded the vocal-instrumental sextet I Disinvolti and has recorded a pair of albums with the group -- Giovanni Antonio Rigatti: Vespro della Beata Vergine (2021) and Vulnerasti cor meum: Motets from the Song of Songs (2024). Lombardi also appeared in 2022 on a recording of Handel's oratorio Theodora, HWV 68, with the early music group Il Pomo d'Oro.
