Chase Spruill

Biography

Violinist Chase Spruill emerged in the 2010s as an enthusiastic promoter and performer of the music of Philip Glass and other contemporary composers. Spruill is active as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral violinist, and educator. In 2012, Spruill reached out to Michael Riesman, the longtime director of the Philip Glass Ensemble, about arranging a suite for violin and piano from the Candyman score that the two of them could play together. Spruill and Riesman toured and recorded together, issuing a recording of the Candyman Suite in 2016, Spruill's debut recording. Spruill's solo debut, Michael Nyman: Yamamoto Perpetuo, was released in 2019. In 2022, he issued the solo violin album A Common Time, which featured arrangements of works by Glass.
