In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember listening to Pachelbel's canon played live by a string quartet when I was about 9 years old and it totally blew me away. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Sir Georg Solti, Wiener Philharmoniker, Wagner: Der Ring des Nibelungen The Beatles, The Beatles (The White Album) The Stone Roses, The Stone Roses Remastered 2009 The Stone Roses were the soundtrack to my teenage years. The White Album because it is legendary. The Ring because it is one of the most amazing works of art ever. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Coventry Carol (Arr. R. Hayward for Voice & Guitar)” I recorded this piece using only sounds made by my classical guitar and voice. The piece alternates between 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time, which combined with the percussive guitar sounds creates a groove that I really love. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Having a friend text me from Australia to say that he was listening to me on the radio was an unforgettable moment. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to play my Wagner arrangements for solo guitar in Wagner's house in Bayreuth as part of the Festspiel chamber concerts. And to appear on the tv or course!
