Biography

Alice Gi-Young Hwang, who performs under the name Nahre Sol, is a composer, teacher, and pianist dedicated to bringing music to as many people as she can. While studying piano performance at Juilliard, she started the nonprofit T.R.I.O. (Teaching and Responding through Internet Outreach) to give virtual music lessons to students around the world. That has led to a successful online video channel and a stint cohosting the PBS educational program Sound Field. Born in 1991, Hwang has earned various honors throughout her career, including a Fulbright–Harriet Hale Woolley Award in the Arts to study in France. Along with her music being commissioned by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and being heard in the movie The Boss Baby: Family Business, in 2020 she released a forceful and confident album of piano music, Alice in Wonderland.
