Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra
Biography
One of Bulgaria's top orchestral ensembles, the Sofia Philharmonic has extended its reach under music director Nayden Todorov, making well-received international tours and recording for labels beyond Bulgaria. The orchestra has also become known for its collaborations with popular musicians. The Sofia Philharmonic has a substantial recording catalog, and its work has appeared on many compilations. An early recording came in 1990 with Scriabin: Symphony No. 2. In 2023 and 2025, the orchestra moved to the Naxos label for a pair of recordings of ballets by Adolphe Adam: Orfa and Griseldis, respectively. The group has received numerous awards, including the Honorary Sign of the President of Bulgaria.
