Elijah Hopkins

Biography

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My dad was a proper classical music buff and had BBC Radio 3 on every weekend. I’d lie on the carpet while these magical notes drifted through the living room, rain on the windows, trying to later work out what I'd heard on our old upright. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Harold Budd, The Pavilion of Dreams Katie Noonan, Joni Mitchell's Blue Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Ligeti: Études, Música Ricercata Harold Budd’s The Pavilion of Dreams for stillness, Ligeti’s Musica Ricercata for tension, and Joni Mitchell’s Blue for honesty. Together they taught me silence, discomfort and truth are as powerful as melody. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Cosy” I wrote “Cosy” after a winter walk by the sea when everything felt heavy. I played until the feeling passed. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Hearing my track land on a real playlist late at night, knowing strangers were listening somewhere else at the same time. It felt like the music finally left my room and started its own life. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to record an album somewhere remote with no signal, just a piano, microphones and the weather outside. Let the wind and rain leak into the takes and become part of the music.
