Carlo Cecere
Biography
This Italian composer and instrumentalists set "La tavernola abentorosa," the libretto by Trinchera, to music. It became an infamous buffoon comedy as the writer, not the composer, was punished for its mocking satire of the monastic life. (It was the first opera of its kind to be specifically written for a monastic audience). Cecere also composed other operas, concertos and instrumental duets. Most of his musical stylings included some dynamic diversity but a limited scope regarding melodies and harmonies. ~ Keith Johnson
