Jan Lukaszewski

Biography

Conductor Jan Łukaszewski is one of Eastern Europe's leading specialists in choral music, with an orientation toward often difficult contemporary works. He is the conductor and artistic director of the Polski Chór Kameralny. Since 1983, Łukaszewski has conducted the Schola Cantorum Gedanensis, and he has premiered more than 700 works with that group as well as issuing numerous albums. Łukaszewski's repertory includes Romantic and modern works, and he is known as a conductor who can prepare difficult choral pieces quickly. With the Polski Chór Kameralny, he released the first recording of Krzysztof Penderecki's complete a cappella choral works. In 2023, Łukaszewski and the Polski Chór Kameralny issued the album Górecki: Church Songs, Op. 84.
