Cornelius Freundt

Biography

A composer who maintained positions as the Kantor at Bornau, Kantor of St Marien, and teacher at the school of Zwickau. Most of the music Freundt composed were songs for the church, Christmas music and wedding songs. His Christmas songs remained a part of the staple works until the 18th century. The compositions were comprised of sonorous melodies with contrapuntal harmonies and some stylings that were motet in fashion. ~ Keith Johnson
