Countertenor Hugh Cutting rose to prominence on the Baroque opera scene early in his life. While still a student at the Royal College of Music in London, he appeared with such major ensembles as The English Concert and Les Arts Florissants and released an album with top countertenor Iestyn Davies. Cutting began his musical career as a boy chorister with the Choir of New College, Oxford. After graduating, he appeared on the BBC Early Music Show, performing lute songs. Cutting's recordings are a varied group that have seen him appear on the soundtrack of the film The Marvels. In 2025, he was featured with Les Arts Florissants and conductor William Christie on the album Nei giardini d'amore.
