Joseph LoDuca

Biography

Michigan native Joseph LoDuca is a film and television composer best known for his dynamic and dramatic collaborations with filmmaker Sam Raimi. A guitar performance major with a background in the Detroit rock scene, LoDuca made his film scoring debut on the Raimi classic The Evil Dead (1981). He continued to collaborate with Raimi on the big screen into the 2000s, when LoDuca won two Primetime Emmys, for his music for Xena: Warrior Princess (co-created by Raimi) and Legend of the Seeker. Meanwhile, Raimi turned to the stylistically similar Danny Elfman for big-budget hits like the Spider-Man films. LoDuca continued to embrace work on campier fantasy, adventure, and horror projects, including films like Burying the Ex (2014) and Cult of Chucky (2017), and series like Chucky (2021-2024) and the ongoing film/TV franchise The Librarian/The Librarians. He reunited with Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell on the 2026 film Ernie & Emma.
