Joel Krosnick

Biography

Prominent for many years as part of the Juilliard Quartet, cellist Joel Krosnick also had a substantial career as a soloist, often performing with pianist Gilbert Kalish. He was likewise influential as an educator. Krosnick was notable for his strong commitment to contemporary music. His recording career with the Juilliard Quartet and as a soloist began during the LP era and lasted at least 40 years. Krosnick continued to teach after his retirement from the Juilliard Quartet in 2016. He died in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, on April 15, 2025.
