Magdalena Consort

Specializing in the early Baroque English consort anthem, the Magdalena Consort has a distinctive sound shaped both by historical research and by the group's preponderance of virtuoso singers and instrumentalists. The Consort has performed sacred vocal music from Monteverdi to Bach but has specialized in the somewhat neglected field of the early Baroque English consort anthem. The group has released a series of albums titled "In Chains of Gold," devoted to the English Pre-Restoration Verse Anthem. That series reached its third volume in 2025 with the album 'Ah, his glory! Anthems of praise, prayer, and remembrance.
