Timothy Hamilton
Biography
British conductor and composer Timothy Hamilton began studying music as a chorister at Portsmouth Cathedral. He attended the University of Kent, Christ Church College, where he worked with Benjamin Luxon, Paul Edlin, and Lionel Grigson; Canterbury Christ Church University College; and Trinity College, where he studied voice with Teresa Cahill and Janice Chapman. He also participated in the English National Opera's "The Knack" program, working with Mary King and Rufus Norris, and completed his studies at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. In addition to the English National Opera, he has appeared with the Scottish Opera, the Queen's Chapel of the Savoy, the Canterbury Cathedral Choir, the BBC National Chorus of Wales, and Accentus. Hamilton founded the choral ensemble Cantoribus, which includes operatic voices as well as trained choral singers. Hamilton composes choral and orchestral music, and he has also written for film and television. His recordings have been released by Stone Records and Naxos. ~ Blair Sanderson
