In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. A member recalls seeing a teacher play “Do You Hear What I Hear?” on trombone at a school concert. It was so cool with its deep, rich sound. I learned trombone and have played since. Music is so important to me. Most of my best friends are musicians. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Ava Ordman, John Whitwell, Michigan State University Symphonic Band, Michigan State University Wind Symphony, Simple Gifts: The Music of Frank Ticheli, Vol. 2 Dallas Wind Symphony, Frederick Fennell, Trittico Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra Live: Classical Composers It's amazing how the bands listen to each other. Tell us why you chose this song. “March of the Resistance (Live)” A member says "I visualize evil stormtroopers marching in their white suits pursuing the heroic rebels. The relentless, menacing low brass punctuated by powerful percussion makes it one of the most moving selections from the Star Wars sound tracks." What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One member recalls: "Playing a concert at Carnegie Hall as a member of the McDonald’s All-American High School Band representing the state of Illinois. We received a standing ovation." Another recalls: "playing under Frederick Fennell and Karel Husa" Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We come together to become better musicians, provide a welcome space for diverse talent, and contribute positively to the local cultural fabric. Mostly, we want to bring joy to audiences.
