Biography

Pianist Joseph Middleton has earned accolades and a stellar reputation as a vocal accompanist, perhaps lining himself up as an heir to the greats. Middleton is also active as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed around the world in these capacities and has a growing catalog of recordings. His recordings have earned him an Edison Award (with Carolyn Sampson for A Verlaine Songbook) and several nominations for awards from BBC Music Magazine and Grammophone. Middleton continued a vigorous performing and recording schedule in the mid-2020s, issuing albums with Sampson (Schubert's Four Seasons), Fatma Said (Lieder), Sarah Connolly (The World Feels Dusty), and Mary Bevan (Elegy) in 2025.
