In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Music fascinated me from an early age, even though I didn’t grow up in a musical family. At first it was songs, then I fell in love with the piano — its endless colours, possibilities and extraordinary repertoire across centuries and genres. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bayreuther Festspielorchester, Birgit Nilsson, Chor der Bayreuther Festspiele, Christa Ludwig, Eberhard Wächter, Karl Böhm, Martti Talvela, Peter Schreier, Wolfgang Windgassen, Wagner: Tristan und Isolde, WWV 90 (Live) Michel Camilo, One More Once Moriz Rosenthal, The Complete Recordings (Recorded 1928-1942) I love early recordings because they don’t behave — you can really hear the musician’s personality. I love Camilo’s groove and virtuosity, and in Tristan, those gigantic waves of tension and release hit me straight in the chest. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Two Pieces for Violin and Piano : I. Nocturne (Arr. for Cello and Piano by J. Fredens)” One of the most beautiful short pieces ever written. It breaks my heart every time — and makes me think of how much music the world lost when Lili Boulanger died so young. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I love the process of recording — experimenting, listening, and slowly discovering what makes the music feel alive and meaningful. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Embarking on new journeys with new repertoire or new approaches to existing repertoire.
