Biography
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest memories was playing Beatles tunes on the clarinet, with my dad accompanying me on the guitar. Around the same time I started singing in the local church choir, and much of the music we sang touched me very profoundly. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? English Baroque Soloists, John Eliot Gardiner, Bach, J.S. : Cantatas BWV 106, 118 & 198 Iona, The Book of Kells Radiohead, OK Computer Each of these albums arrived at times of confusion in my life, and seemed to provide answers. All 3 have lingered and stood up to thousands of listens. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Remembrance” This was a track that became an absolute outpouring of heart and soul in response to a very moving book, A Song for Jenny by Julie Nicholson. It seems to encapsulate so many of the things I am as a composer and saxophonist. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When I made my first album, Sanctuary, and people started requesting it daily on the radio, the feeling that something I had created as an experiment was now connecting genuinely with the general public. As an artist you can't really ask for more. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To tour far and wide, connecting with audiences from all cultures along the way.
