Biography
Michael Stephen Brown is an American classical pianist and composer whose performing repertoire spans solo recitals, chamber music, orchestral appearances, and an increasingly prominent body of original compositions. His musical language draws on the American tonal tradition, with echoes of Bernstein, Debussy, and Ravel. Notable works include his Concerto for Piano and Strings and the orchestral song cycle American Diaries. Brown's first album devoted entirely to his own compositions, Twelve Blocks, was released in 2026. He has also released acclaimed solo piano recordings, including Noctuelles [2021], which features Ravel's highly virtuosic piece of that name as well as compositions by Medtner.
