Emiliano Gonzalez Toro
Biography
Tenor Emiliano Gonzalez Toro is a major specialist in the music of Monteverdi and other early Baroque composers. Gonzalez Toro's first instrument was the oboe before switching to singing. He joined the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne under director Michel Corboz and resolved to pursue a career in early music. He soon began to find engagements with major Baroque groups. He made his recording debut in 2003 on the album Ad Vesperas Beatae Mariae Virginis. Gonzalez Toro married soprano Mathilde Etienne in 2014, and in 2019, the pair founded the ensemble I Gemelli. I Gemelli released a recording of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo in 2020 and issued a recording of Il ritorni d'Ulisse in patria in 2023.
